Preble Township Board Meeting Highlights

The following topics were discussed at the regular meeting of the board of supervisors held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, beginning at 7:00PM.  Official minutes of this board meeting have not yet been approved.

 

Township officers attending the meeting were Gerald Peter, Brad Kelly, David Williams, David Larson and Charles Olson.  Township road engineer Butch Obieglo attended the meeting.  Township resident Paul Olson attended the meeting. 

 

Gerald Peter, township president, called the meeting to order and led the discussion.

 

Topics Discussed

 

Treasurer's Report

 

Chuck Olson, treasurer, reported that the township checking account balance at Rushford State Bank was $78,025.64 as of September 30, 2011, after the payment of all September bills.  Olson reported that $4,944.50 was expended by the township during September. 

 

Outstanding Bills

 

The township board reviewed bills received by David Larson since the September meeting. The total amount of outstanding bills, excluding current wages, was $1,656.32.  All outstanding bills were approved for payment. 

 

Road Report

 

Butch Obieglo reported that he continued to grade most roads during early October.  Obieglo also stated that 160th Street to the west of Scheie Church and 180th Street need additional rock.  Gerald Peter directed Obieglo to order additional rock for those two roads.

 

Wisel Cemetery

 

David Williams reported that he met with a group of Mabel area residents interested in restoring the Wisel Cemetery burial grounds.  This group will attempt to raise funds for the restoration project.

 

Highway 43 Bridge Replacement in Choice

 

Brad Kelly reported that MnDot work on replacing the Choice bridge on Highway 43 will begin on May 7, 2012.  MnDot will let the bridge work contract on January 27, 2012.
