Preble Township Board Meeting Highlights The following topics were discussed at the regular meeting of the board of supervisors held on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, beginning at 7PM. Official minutes of this board meeting have not yet been approved.
Township officers attending the meeting were Gerald Peter, Brad Kelly, David Williams, David Larson and Charles Olson. Conrad Obieglo, township road maintenance engineer, attended the meeting. Gerald Peter, township president, called the meeting to order and led the discussion.
Topics Discussed
Election of Officers
Gerald Peter was elected as President of Preble Township for year 2010, and Brad Kelly was elected as Vice-President.
Treasurer's Report
Chuck Olson, treasurer, reported that the township checking account balance at Rushford State Bank was $68,562.69 as of February 28, 2010, after the payment of all February bills. Olson stated that $8,523.68 was expended by the township during February.
Outstanding Bills
The township board reviewed bills received by David Larson since the February meeting. The total amount of outstanding bills, excluding current wages, was $5,694.19. Of this amount, $1,190 was incurred for diesel fuel, $1,534.73 for a new infrared tube heater for the equipment shed, and $915.92 for new reflective road signs. All outstanding bills were approved for payment.
Drake Road Cartway Maintenance
David Williams provided the township board with a report on the status of the pending litigation over Drake Road cartway maintenance.
Road Report
The township board discussed proposals for replacing the deteriorating and condemned Arrowhead Road bridge. The discussion will continue during the upcoming road tour scheduled for Thursday, March 18th. During the road tour the township officers will also discuss solutions for repairing culverts on Cabbage Rock Road in section 8 and 411th Avenue in section 5. Butch Obieglo reported that he repaired the roadway around the Scheie Church during early March, and that the other township roads are in good condition.
Obieglo Performance Review
David Williams noted that the township board conducted a work performance review with Butch Obieglo in February. The township board recorded a summary of this work performance review, and commended Obieglo for his road work contributions to the township.
Township Officer Compensation
The township board reviewed the compensation levels paid to township officers during 2009, and elected to continue compensation at the same rate during year 2010.
Property Tax Board of Appeals
David Larson reminded the township board that Preble Township's board of appeals will meet at the townhall on April 13th at 9AM to hear property assessment appeals from property owners. |
