Topics Discussed
Treasurer's Report
Chuck Olson, treasurer, reported that the township checking account balance at Rushford State Bank was $61,810.80 as of May 31, 2011, after the payment of all May bills. Olson reported that $5,310.53 in funds were received during May from township property owners for fees charged for winter snowplowing services provided by the township. Olson stated that $2,276.20 was expended by the township during May.
Outstanding Bills
The township board reviewed bills received by David Larson since the May meeting. The total amount of outstanding bills, excluding current wages, was $808.76. All outstanding bills were approved for payment.
Road Report
Butch Obieglo reported that township roads are generally in good condition and repair.
David Williams reported that the Minnesota DNR Forestry Department agreed to contribute $500 toward the cost of providing rock on Coyote Road. Orval Sorum & Sons will provide the rock for this roadway, and has already sent a bill to the DNR for their share of the cost.
Camper Lane Maintenance
Patrick Masyga stated that he owns property in section 19 of the township adjacent to Wisel Creek. The primary access road to his property is Camper Lane. Masyga requested that the township provided some road grading maintenance to Camper Lane. David Williams informed Masyga that Camper Lane is not a township-owned road. Therefore, Preble Township cannot use township funds and equipment to maintain Camper Lane, without a specific direction and approval of the township voters. Camper Lane was developed by private property owners in the area as a logging road and by the Minnesota DNR to provide access to state forestry land. Williams urged Masyga to speak with the Minnesota DNR forestry representative to see if the DNR will provide some maintenance of this roadway. |
